Welcome to PEM
The Next Generation in Innovative Downstream Equipment

What does Downstream
mean?
PEM engineers, and manufactures, innovative downstream equipment - but what does downstream mean? Downstream means equipment after the extruder that is needed to produce and process finished pipe. PEM provides this equipment to the industry to complete the process (see below in blue).
The Extruder, which is a machine that heats up plastics materials, extrudes melted PVC into the pipe’s cylindrical shape. The hot, malleable pipe needs to be cooled and sized to the correct diameter (Vacuum Sizing Tanks), and then further cooled so the pipe maintains its shape (Cooling Tanks). The continuous moving product, is being pulled down the line (Pullers), and then cut to desired lengths (Saws). After the pipe has been cut to length, it will need further processing which includes reheating one end of the pipe to create a solvent-weld or gasketed bell so pipes can be joined together (Bellers).
Some pipes need to be tested to standards for underground water mainlines (Hydrotesters), rotated for shipment (Lift and Rotators), stacked on skids or pallets (Stackers), or bundled together (Unibundlers). At PEM, we manufacture many versions of machines for each stage of the above processes.
PEM supplies Machinery downstream of the Extruder to the Plastics Industry.
